As a student/freelance software developer, I'm looking for opportunies to do some work and earn a bit of experience (as well as some cash, of course). I've been doing development for several years as a hobby and in school and I have experience in several areas.

Software
Desktop Applications
Desktop applications are programs that you run on your computer. They have graphic user interfaces (GUIs) and are typically event-driven (e.g. click on a button to do something). Currently, most of my experience is in desktop application development, using Java with SWING interface. I also have quiet a bit of experience with .NET Framework development (Visual Basic, C#), along with some work with Python. I can develop for different platforms, including Windows and Linux/UNIX.

Web Applications
Web applications are systems that run through a web browser, such as Mozilla Firefox of Internet Explorer. My services for web applications differ from web design. A web application is exactly that, an application, and while it is similar to web design, there is more complexity and involves server-side applications.
Web applications are typically developed using PHP or ASP.NET, both of which I have previous experience in. There are also other platforms, such as Ruby on Rails and Python. Web applications can be hosted on Windows or Unix platforms.
Web Design
Web design is a fast-growing and fast-moving technology. My web sites are up to date with standards and use appropriate software technologies. My web design services include visual aspect and minimal back-end coding to make a competitive web site. I prefer to code to XHTML 1.1 and CSS2 standards, using Javascript and AJAX and server-side code where needed. Web sites are clean, user-friendly and easily maintainable.

Consulting
My experience in Computer Science has taught me a lot about what good practices are and how to implement certain technologies. I can advise you about network and software solutions, and help with implementation and support. Please contact me for more information.
